A new report by Alinea Analytics says Death Stranding 2 has sold 2.5 million copies across PlayStation 5 and PC.
For those who don’t know, Hideo Kojima announced a huge change in plans yesterday, with PlayStation taking the decision to step away from Physint and XBOX partnering up with Kojima to publish his “genre-defining action-espionage title”. Now, we have been informed about the sales numbers for Kojima’s latest PlayStation title.
PlayStation’s Last Kojima Title Sells Over 2.5 Million Copies
Alinea Analytics reports the 2.5 million figure for Death Stranding 2. The majority of these sales, 1.8 million copies, were for PlayStation 5, while 700,000 copies were sold on PC. The estimated revenue generated from both platforms is $170 million. In the first two months, the game sold 1 million copies on PlayStation 5 and 550,000 copies on Steam. However, it reportedly struggled to maintain similar sales numbers after that.

Compared to the previous installment in the series, Death Stranding has sold 5 million copies, with 71% of sales coming from PlayStation, 25% from Steam, and the remaining 4% from Xbox. It is important to note that this game has been available for much longer than Death Stranding 2 and has undergone several discounts during that time. However, it has still managed to generate $243 million in nearly six years. Together, the titles have reportedly generated $413M in revenue.
