Final Fantasy VII Revelation Completes the Trilogy in April 2027

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on April 8th, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store. The information came as part of the latest Sony State of Play, alongside both a new trailer and a ten-minute extended look at its gameplay. Check out both below! It acts as a central hub for the core cast of eight playable characters: Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Yuffie, Red XIII, Cait Sith, Vincent, and Cid. They contend with the ever-present threat of Sephiroth as he seeks to bring Meteor down on the planet, corrupting the world’s natural guardians, known as Weapons, to enact his grand ambitions.To help explore groundside, players will bond with and ride Piko, an upgradable chocobo mount that joins the party in battle. The FITS (Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear) system was also on display, with both Vincent and Cid showcasing the Summoner and Knight variants, which are two of a total four equippable outfits available to players.

Specifically, each FITS drastically changes a party member’s function and roster of abilities that they can use. The Summoner amplifies Vincent’s base attacks and gives him access to Summon-specific abilities, while the Knight can help Cid taunt enemies and provide defence for other party members in battle.Beyond combat options, new and old locations were spotlighted in both mountainous Wutai and tropical Gongaga. In these locations and others, players can also embark on side-quests that include familiar characters from the entire Final Fantasy VII universe, such as Sotetsu from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Cissnei from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

Choice was also front and centre, with players able to choose which party member takes the lead in certain quests, presumably changing both the context and flavour of the quest as a result.Lastly, the popular card-battling minigame Queen’s Blood will also return. This edition, seen below, includes everything from Revelation‘s Collector’s Edition, plus a retro-styled Cloud keychain, and copies of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. All three games come in sleek metal cases complete with monolithic stands and display-only discs (since this edition comes in PS5, Switch 2, and Steam flavors).
