2XKO was Riot Games’ traditional tag fighter that was fully released for consoles and PC on January 20, 2026. Despite receiving some decent reviews and interest from fans, the studio is already preparing to shut down development support by December 2026.
This decision comes from the game’s performance, which couldn’t maintain player interest in the long term. The steady drop in its player base kept hindering the game’s profitability before it became too unsustainable to support. After some consideration, the studio chose to end active support for the game, despite its ten-year development.
At the moment, the development team is continuing to distribute new content for 2XKO before the end of 2026. The current roadmap reveals major changes in September, including an ultimate bundle of skins, a fully unlocked roster of Champions, expanded private lobbies with voice chat, and Lux as a new champion. The next update will feature Samira as the last confirmed Champion before the team announces any more changes in its final competitive appearances at Evo France and Battle Coliseum.

By the end of 2026, the team will finish refunding any purchases made by players before August 20, 2026. The final update for 2XKO will fix any remaining major bugs before closing any new support for the game. The in-game servers will remain online, letting players connect to battle beyond 2026 until further notice.
