SteelSeries Announces Aeon Pro Controller For Xbox And PC

SteelSeries appears to have taken the “everything and the kitchen sink” approach to controller design with its new Aeon Pro, a premium gamepad packed with enough hardware and customization options to make a standard controller look positively minimalist. Designed for Xbox and PC, with support extending to mobile gaming, the Aeon Pro is built around a few features that should be particularly interesting to players who bounce between multiple platforms. At the center is the QuickSwitch Dock System, which SteelSeries describes as the world’s first such system for PC and Xbox. The patent-pending dock is designed to make switching between devices more convenient.

Then there’s the power situation. The Aeon Pro uses an Infinite Power System built around two hot-swappable batteries. Instead of waiting for a controller to recharge, players can swap batteries and keep playing while the original batter recharges. Wireless controllers are only as good as you remembering to keep them charged, and this means you’ll never have to plug in a USB-C cable ever again.

The controller also uses Hall Effect thumbsticks, designed to provide drift-free precision, alongside mechanical switches throughout the controller for faster, more tactile inputs. There’s also a modular stick system that lets players swap between standard concave, tall concave, and short convex thumbsticks, with the unused sticks conveniently stored directly in the dock. Contoured rear buttons can be remapped for additional controls, while a textured wrap-around grip is designed to keep the controller firmly in hand during longer sessions.

On PC, the Aeon Pro gets even deeper customization through SteelSeries GG software. Players can remap buttons and triggers, adjust individual rumble intensity across four motors, manage profiles and power settings, and configure GG and Sonar integrations. SteelSeries has also squeezed an OLED display onto the controller that provides access to customized profiles, eliminating the need to constantly boot up the controller’s software when you switch games.

There is a lot going on here, but that’s clearly the point. The Aeon Pro isn’t just another basic Xbox-style controller with a couple of extra buttons. Between its swappable batteries, modular sticks, Hall Effect technology, mechanical switches, OLED display, dock, and software customization, SteelSeries is positioning it as a controller for players who want to practically everything modern tech can offer.

There’s only one thing the controller can’t do, and that is pick the color for you. So you’ll have to pick whether you want this beast in black or white.
