Developer Nippon Ichi Software and publisher NIS America will be launching their life sim mixed in with a bit of horror title ‘Village in the Shade’ on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch (Switch 1 and Switch 2) consoles for western markets on 27 October. A physical collector’s edition can also be found over on NISA’s store front and standard editions will be carried at your local retailer.

Village in the Shade has players take on the role of a young child who finds themselves in an idyllic, secluded village out in the boonies. Out of the gate, things aren’t exactly normal by any stretch of the means, however, and the more you toil away at your farm and make friends with the villagers, the closer you get to the truth. You can learn a bit more over in our review in-progress of the title!

On consoles, the game will feature language support for English, French, and Spanish while the Steam version will include those in its already present Korean, Japanese, and Chinese language options.

The game has become quite popular in Japan, selling 250K copies in the country as of 1 October.

Welcome to Kagatsu, a Japanese mountain village with plenty of secrets. In this brand-new, hand-painted farming sim, you’ll plant crops, customize your homestead, and befriend a cast of intriguing characters.

Relax by the brook, watch the cherry blossoms with your neighbors, or take a stroll through town. With so many ways to relax, you’re sure to feel right at home.

Just make sure to follow a few simple rules: don’t talk to strangers, don’t leave the village, and, whatever you do, don’t go out at night.

Unsettle Down: Make your new home feel like home! Buy furniture in town to decorate your house, then craft fences and other items with the resources you’ve gathered around your farm.

Festival Fun: Experience traditional Japanese festivals and activities, like the summer festival and cherry-blossom viewing. Get closer to your neighbors as you enjoy laid-back living.

Secrets Aren’t Meant to be Shared: Discover the truth about Kagatsu at your own risk, or follow the rules and keep from seeing a part of the village you don’t want to.
