Modern Warfare 4 players on XBOX have the chance to get an exclusive skin when the new Call of Duty game drops, but it won’t appear on PC or PlayStation.
Over the years, Call of Duty has included plenty of pre-order bonuses for players. These incentives have ranged from double XP tokens to early beta access, as well as exclusive cosmetics for both operators and weapons.
Some of these cosmetics have been labelled “pay to win” at times, while others have been branded as “pay to lose” as well, seeing as the latter have made you more visible to enemy players.
Well, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on the horizon, pre-order bonuses for the new release have started surfacing. That includes an XBOX exclusive skin, which celebrates 25 years of XBOX with the classic green look and even being transparent – just like the original XBOX console.

While XBOX fans have been praising the new skin, it has caused some confusion and frustration too.
As it turns out, the skin will only be visible to players on XBOX – you won’t be able to flex on non-XBOX PC or PlayStation players. Instead, non-XBOX players will receive an “alternate mil-spec visual treatment.”
Call of Duty’s X account explained that “both versions use the same attachments and perform identically in-game,” you just won’t see the XBOX-themed design elsewhere.
“The non-XBOX version is boring as hell. They could’ve at least given it the same platform specific colour,” one fan complained. “Lame. They should have it show on all platforms,” another commented. “I like it. Can’t wait to use it,” another chimed in.
Some fans also used the opportunity to point out that the ability to filter out skins appears to exist, which is something they’ve been asking for over the last few years – with many complaining about some of the collaborations that CoD has gone ahead with.
