Think you’re pretty good at spotting hidden cats? Cats Around Us: Black Cat is ready to put that claim to the test, with the latest entry in the feline-finding series now arriving on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
This time, the star of the show has a particularly useful skill. The titular black cat is rather good at disappearing into the scenery, hiding among the shadows of a five-page silent comic. Your job is simply to find him – along with plenty of other hidden objects along the way.

A Black Cat With A Serious Hiding Problem
Cats Around Us: Black Cat follows the story of a man and his mischievous feline companion, told through five pages of comic-book-style artwork.
There are more than 200 hidden objects waiting to be discovered, with the black cat naturally being the most important of the bunch. Unlike a typical game where you’re racing against the clock, this is much more about taking your time, scanning the artwork and enjoying the hunt.
That makes the black cat’s camouflage particularly appropriate. Finding a dark-furred feline hiding against an already busy scene could prove to be trickier than it sounds.
Find, Complete And Get Creative
The hidden-object hunting is accompanied by a few additional activities. Five jigsaw puzzles give you another way to interact with the artwork, while Photo Mode lets you capture scenes once you’ve finished exploring them.
There’s also a Paint Mode, allowing you to add some colour to the game’s imagery. Adjustable colours, brightness and contrast options are included too, which could prove particularly useful when you’re struggling to distinguish one suspicious-looking shadow from another.
Another Entry In The Hidden Cat Craze
Cats Around Us: Black Cat is the second game in the series, following Cats Around Us: Giant Cat, which we previously reviewed with a 3/5 score. Our verdict on Giant Cat found a charming idea underneath a rather small package, with the comic-book presentation and decision to move away from time limits among its stronger elements. The big question for the sequel is whether Black Cat can build on those foundations and give feline hunters a little more reason to keep searching.
And the timing is interesting, too. We’ve just put another hidden-cat adventure through its paces in our A Tower Full of Cats review, awarding it a mighty 4.5/5 and calling it the best example of the genre we’ve played.
That’s a fairly high bar for any game full of cats to clear.
Cats Around Us: Black Cat is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support, all via the Xbox Store. Now all that’s left is to find that blasted cat.
