FEROCIOUS has suddenly arrived on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, giving players very little warning before throwing them onto an island where dinosaurs, heavily armed mercenaries and mechas are all capable of ruining their day.
Published by tinyBuild and developed by OMYOG, this rather unexpected arrival is available for £20.99 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support included.
Having previously launched on Steam, where it currently sits with Mixed reviews, FEROCIOUS is now making the jump to consoles with a particularly wild proposition. Survival is difficult enough when you’re stranded somewhere mysterious, but things get considerably more complicated when the local wildlife can be turned into weapons.

Welcome To A Very Unfriendly Island
FEROCIOUS wastes little time in setting the scene. After setting out in search of a missing brother, you’re left stranded on an uncharted island where ancient ruins sit alongside some considerably less welcoming inhabitants.
The island itself is a major part of the challenge. Its environment is constantly shifting, while exploration can uncover resources, dangers and opportunities to turn the surroundings in your favour. There is clearly little room for simply wandering around and admiring the scenery when an apex predator could be waiting around the next corner.
Crafting is therefore an important part of staying alive. Resources scavenged from the island can be used to create weapons and equipment, allowing you to prepare for the various threats that stand between you and your next objective.
Dinosaurs Make For Rather Useful Friends
The biggest hook here is arguably what you can do with the dinosaurs. Don’t think this is another entry in the Jurassic World Evolution series. Nah, this is far different.
Rather than treating them purely as enormous problems with teeth, FEROCIOUS lets you control dinosaurs and use them against your enemies. They can attack hostile forces, help clear paths or provide a way through guarded areas without necessarily requiring you to charge in with guns blazing.
That should give encounters plenty of scope for experimentation. Mercenaries might demand one approach, while dinosaurs and mechas bring their own problems to the table. With different weapons and gear available through crafting, survival becomes as much about adapting to a situation as simply having the biggest gun available.
Three Very Different Kinds Of Trouble
And yes, there are mechas too.
FEROCIOUS is seemingly quite happy to throw almost everything imaginable at the player, from ancient ruins and hostile wildlife to armed human enemies and mechanical threats. The result is a survival adventure with a particularly unusual collection of obstacles.
A Surprise Arrival On Xbox
There has been little fanfare surrounding FEROCIOUS’ arrival on Xbox, making this something of a shadow drop for anyone who wasn’t already following its journey on PC. Now that it has landed on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, players can find out for themselves how this combination of survival, crafting and explosive combat fares outside its original Steam release.
At £20.99, FEROCIOUS certainly isn’t short of ambition. An island full of dinosaurs would already be enough to make survival complicated, but throwing mercenaries and mechas into the mix suggests this is one holiday destination where bringing a sensible pair of walking boots probably won’t be enough.
