There is something dangerously appealing about opening a booster pack, finding something valuable and immediately deciding that you need to open another one. TCG Card Shop Simulator has been playing on that temptation since its Xbox Game Preview arrival earlier this year, but the Game Preview label is now gone as the game reaches Version 1.0.
Available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere and Steam support, TCG Card Shop Simulator launches at £16.74 and is also a Day One Game Pass title for Ultimate, Premium and PC subscribers. A £20.99 Deluxe Edition is available too, adding a handful of useful extras to the starting package.

From Empty Shelves To TCG Empire
The basic premise hasn’t changed since we first stepped inside the shop during its Xbox Game Preview launch. You start with a card store to manage, then gradually turn it into something considerably bigger by selling booster packs and other trading card products.
That means plenty of the usual shopkeeping responsibilities. Shelves need organising, stock needs ordering and the shop itself needs to stay clean if you want customers to stick around. Keeping an eye on what’s proving popular is important too, as trends can influence what you should be putting on those shelves.
Profits can then be pushed back into the business, allowing you to expand your available space, unlock new card sets and improve the facilities. In other words, the ultimate objective is to go from struggling shopkeeper to someone who has built the TCG store of their dreams.
The Other Side Of The Counter
There’s more to the simulator than simply selling cards.
You can open booster packs yourself and hunt for rare cards, choosing whether to cash in when you find something valuable or keep it tucked away as part of your personal collection. You can also host games in the shop, setting the format and entry fee before inviting players to take a seat.
Just don’t let the place get too grubby. Apparently, even dedicated card players have standards.
We Already Know The Appeal
We got hands-on with TCG Card Shop Simulator when it first arrived on Xbox Game Preview and Game Pass, and there was already plenty to like about its particular brand of shopkeeping.
Our earlier impressions noted that the game had managed to attract a sizeable audience, while its combination of running a TCG store and actually opening virtual packs captured the fantasy rather neatly. There was also a certain “shonky” charm to the experience, with bugs and oddities occasionally producing moments that were difficult not to enjoy.
Back then, we wondered whether the jank would survive when that Game Preview sticker eventually disappeared. Now we can find out. Our full review will follow soon.
The Deluxe Edition Gets You Started
The £20.99 Deluxe Edition is aimed at players who want a little extra help from the beginning. It includes an Extra Start-Up Fund, Infinite Scent Machine, an Ascension Packs Box at the start and a Workbench at the start.
For everyone else, the £16.74 Standard Edition provides the full TCG Card Shop Simulator experience – and Game Pass subscribers can jump in without buying it separately through the Ultimate, Premium and PC tiers.
After spending several months in Xbox Game Preview, TCG Card Shop Simulator is now ready to see whether its particular mixture of retail management, card collecting and pack-opening temptation can keep players busy beyond the initial excitement. The shop is officially open, and there are shelves to fill. Get to it.
