Skiing, fighting and a constantly changing musical score aren’t three things we usually expect to find bundled together, but Fresh Tracks isn’t particularly interested in doing things the usual way.
The musical roguelike adventure has now arrived on Xbox Series X|S, inviting players to carve a path through the snow-covered world of Norwyn while battling its enemies and attempting to restore a fractured pantheon.
Developed and published by Buffalo Buffalo, Fresh Tracks combines precision combat, challenging trails and a soundtrack that reacts to what you’re doing. It previously arrived on PlayStation and Steam in 2025, where it has picked up Very Positive reviews from a small number of players.

Ski Into The Darkness
Norwyn isn’t exactly enjoying its best days. The snow-covered land has fallen into darkness under the influence of Mar, the Queen of Terror, leaving you with the unenviable task of bringing its splintered pantheon back together.
Getting there means taking on a succession of increasingly difficult trails. You’ll ski, jump, dodge and fight your way through each one, collecting new abilities and divine companions as you progress.
The trails aren’t simply scenic routes, either. Each becomes a continuous gauntlet where combat and movement need to work together, with your choices helping determine how you approach the challenges ahead.
Fresh Tracks brings roguelike progression into the mix too, allowing skills and weapons to be upgraded as you go. Choosing the right route is just as important, with the mountainous trails offering different paths towards your eventual confrontation with the forces threatening Norwyn.
And then there’s the music.
Every Mythic Changes The Tune
Music isn’t merely something playing in the background here. Fresh Tracks features 28 original songs, with the soundtrack responding dynamically to your movements and changing depending on the Mythic accompanying you.
These divine storytellers represent different musical genres and personalities. Sogvar, the God of Metal, brings suitably thunderous guitar riffs to proceedings, while Fars & Dram, the Gods of Orchestra, push the adventure towards theatrical highs and lows. Koda, meanwhile, represents pop, bringing a rather different energy to the trails.
The same route can therefore take on a completely different musical identity depending on your chosen companion.
Can You Defeat The Queen Of Terror?
The deeper you travel into Norwyn, the greater the challenge becomes, with bosses acting as major milestones through the adventure. Defeating them doesn’t just clear another obstacle – it also unlocks a new genre of music, further expanding the game’s constantly changing soundtrack.
Now that Fresh Tracks has made its way onto Xbox Series X|S, there’s only one question left: can you find your rhythm before Mar brings Norwyn crashing down?
Download Fresh Tracks from the Xbox Store for £19.74. It’s not available on Game Pass at launch, but you will also find it on Steam and PlayStation.
